Nexans Kabelmetal Ghana CEO Pays Courtesy Call on Ag. Director-General

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nexans Kabelmetal (Ghana) Ltd., producers of nexans cables, Mr. Alexander Quarcoopome, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, paid a visit to the Acting Director-General (DG) of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Professor George Agyei, to congratulate him on his appointment as the Acting head of the Authority and discuss issues of mutual interests.

Mr. Quarcoopome, who was accompanied by his Sales and Marketing Director, Mr. Michael Bani, stated during the meeting that his outfit is excited to be partners with the GSA and will support its cause in championing quality across the electrical cable industry.

The delegation raised some concerns over the influx of counterfeit cables and called on the DG to help address the issue

“We have been in existence since the 60s, and we are very happy to have you on board as not only our regulator but as partners in producing quality electrical cables. We have some issues about the influx of counterfeit cables which is affecting the industry, and we are appealing to you to address the issue,” Mr. Quarcoopome said.

Prof. Agyei, on his part, expressed appreciation to the Nexans Kablemetal CEO for his kind words and pledged the Authority’s support and collaboration to help sanitize and improve the electrical cable industry.

He added that his institution is working hard to address the issue of substandard cables on the market and has come up with a digital verification tool to help identify counterfeit cables and at the same time introduced enforcement officers onto the markets to inspect and confiscate these substandard products.

“You have been a good corporate citizen all these years and we hope you will keep the pace. You are an action leader and we know your activities are providing jobs for the teeming youth of this country. Your issues are legitimate and we are working very hard to resolve them,” Prof. Agyei added.
