The Deputy Director-General in charge of General Services (DDG-GEN), Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, from January 29-30, 2026, led a team from the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) to participate in a workshop organised by the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI), for its sector agencies.
The workshop was aimed at discussing and aligning the agencies’ various action plans for the year for input into the 2026 sector-wide planning.

The Minister for MoTAI, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who was present at the meeting, spoke highly of her agencies and urged them to cooperate with her ministry to improve trade and the sector overall. She underscored the importance of trade for the economy and noted that the agencies play a critical role in Ghana achieving its target of becoming a self-sustaining country.
Ms. Joyce Okoree, the Ag. Director of Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) and Ms. Hannah Swanzy, Head of Planning, who accompanied the DDG-GEN, made a presentation on GSA’s 2026 draft action plan during the workshop.
Ms. Swanzy took the meeting through the Authority’s plans for the year and appealed to the Minister for support in carrying out the Authority’s duties. She explained various reasons for the various targets set out by the Authority which included various stakeholder and awareness creation programmes; standards and metrology activities; mutual recognition agreement with various African countries and agencies among many other important activities.
After the presentation, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended Ms. Swanzy and the GSA for the good job they have been doing over the years and urged them to collaborate effectively with other agencies like the Ghana International Trade Commission (GITC) to help in their enforcement activities to promote fair pricing and quality standards.
She also tasked GSA to have a plan towards Ghana, especially market women adopting weighing scales. She said it is important that the GSA comes up with a comprehensive plan that will make Ghana move towards using accurate measurements in our markets to help in fair pricing in the marketplaces.
“I want to see your plan towards us using scales. I know it won’t happen overnight, but we should start from somewhere which will help governments efforts in ensuring fair pricing in markets,” she said.
The Deputy Minister for MoTAI, Hon. Sampson Ahi, also applauded the GSA and the other agencies for participating in the workshop and tasked them to collaborate with the Ministry so that they would be on the same page and improve the fortunes of Ghanaians in general.
Various agencies present at the workshop included Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA); Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC); GRATIS Foundation; GITC; Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), among other agencies.
