GSA Joins GRA to Mark International Customs Day

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) joined the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to commemorate the International Customs Day on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

The Deputy Director-General in charge of General Services, Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, represented the Authority at the event, which was also graced by Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the Commissioner-General of the GRA, and other distinguished dignitaries.

The event featured a panel discussion with representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Narcotics Control Commission, National Intelligence Bureau, Food and Drugs Authority and the Customs Division of GRA.

Hon. Jabanyite represented the GSA on the panel, where he explained the core mandate of the Authority – protecting consumers and facilitating trade.

He noted that the Authority is uniquely positioned to deliver on this mandate as the country’s sole National Quality Infrastructure institution with the capacity to conduct testing, apply standards, and undertake certification and metrology services.

He further stressed GSA’s keen interest in all products imported into or exported from the country, adding that the Authority maintains a presence at the ports to ensure that final products released into the market are duly inspected and certified by the GSA.
