GSA Educates Traders, Public on Certification Mark, Importance of Weighing Scales in Trade

Staff of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), on Tuesday, March 31 and Thursday, April 2, 2026, engaged the public during a market outreach programme held at the Tema Community 1 and Makola Markets, respectively.

The exercise was aimed at educating traders and consumers on the importance of weighing scales in trade, promoting the patronage of locally manufactured goods bearing the made-in-Ghana logo and how to identify GSA-certified products.

The team, led by senior members of the Metrology Directorate, engaged the traders on how the use of weighing scales ensures price precision between sellers and buyers.

The GSA crew calibrated some of the weighing scales, and those that passed were embossed with green stickers indicating that the weighing scales were accurate.

The staff displayed placards and shared brochures highlighting the importance of using an accurate weighing scale and how the use of weighing scale in trade ensures price precision at the marketplace, prevents losses, ensures regulatory compliance and ensures fair trade between traders and consumers.

Some of the traders expressed their resolve to use weighing scales to sell but called on the GSA to continue its sensitization drive and help them acquire scales to sustain its educational efforts.
