Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana Reps Call on GSA Director-General

A delegation from the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG), on Thursday, April 30, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), and some senior officials at the Head Office in Accra.

The courtesy call focused on exploring avenues for collaboration between GSA and IEAG to strengthen port operations and to discuss ways to improve Ghana’s ports for the benefit of all industry players.

The delegation, led by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit, stated that its visit was to reaffirm its commitment to supporting Authority in achieving success in its operations and mandate.

Prof. Agyei, on his part, expressed his appreciation to members of the team for the keen interest they have shown in the activities and operations of GSA.

He noted that GSA remains a key partner in regulating goods and trade, emphasizing that exporters require the guidance of a standards body to meet quality requirements and comply with trade regulations to successfully access international markets.

“For exporters, we are partners. Without us. your investment will go down the drain,” he stated, further explaining that GSA’s core mandate is to promote trade while ensuring the protection of consumers by safeguarding their health, safety, and give them for their value money.

He added that the Authority is also committed to ensuring that local businesses remain competitive in the global market.

Mr. Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, the Deputy Director-General in charge of General Services (DDG-GEN); Mr. Kojo Eshun, DDG-CAS; Madam Barbara Wuttor-Asem, Ag. Director of Administration; Mr. Kofi Yeboah Debrah, Head of Public Relations; and Mr. Emmanuel Asare, Head of Import Inspection, were also present at the meeting and contributed to the discussions by sharing their insights and perspectives.

The IEAG team expressed its appreciation to the officials of GSA for the warm reception, openness to engagement, and the cordial relationship established during the meeting
