GSA, Paint Manufacturers Unite against Sub standard Products

The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has partnered with the Paint Manufacturers Association of Ghana to address the growing influx of sub‑standard paints in the local market.

At a meeting held at the Authority’s head office in Accra on Thursday, May 7, 2026, chaired by the Director‑General, Professor George Agyei, both parties explored collective measures to protect consumers and ensure fair trade practices.

Prof. Agyei noted that the GSA has intensified enforcement and public education nationwide, urging the Association to actively support these efforts, particularly in raising awareness about the risks associated with inferior paint products.

In response, representatives of the Association pledged their full commitment to working with the GSA to rid the market of sub‑standard paints and paint products.

Mr. Kassem M. Odaymat, who spoke on behalf of the association, thanked the Director-General and his management for taking proactive steps to address their concerns and to sanitise the industry.

Earlier, Dr. Victor Quansah of the Greater Accra Regional Office, gave a presentation on the enforcement activities undertaken by the GSA, through the newly created regional office.

The meeting resolved to set up a committee to come up with an action plan to carry out a massive awareness campaign across the country.
