The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI), on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, launched the prestigious 15th AGI Ghana Industry & Quality Awards.
The brief ceremony assembled captains of industry, policymakers, and development partners, who affirmed their commitment to upholding standards and produce quality products for Ghanaians.
The President of the AGI, Kofi Nsiah-Poku, stated during the launch that, the awards will be used as a platform to offer solutions that can help transition the country’s economy from stability to accelerated development.
“It will offer solutions on deliberate industrialization through increased local value addition, competitive manufacturing, affordable and reliable energy, innovation, quality management systems and technology adoption,” he said.
He added that while Ghana had made encouraging gains in restoring macroeconomic stability, the country must now leverage that foundation to drive strategic industrialization.
The Director-General of GSA, Professor George Agyei, said strategic industrialization could only deliver the desired economy transformation if it was underpinned by quality standards, conformity assessment and a strong quality infrastructure.
He stated that while the country’s improving macroeconomic environment was creating opportunities for businesses, local manufacturers must produce goods that consistently met both domestic and international standards to remain competitive.
“Strategic industrialization is not just about increasing production; it must be supported by quality, standards and conformity assessment to ensure Ghanaian products can compete confidently in regional and global markets,” he said.
Prof. Agyei added that the GSA would continue to collaborate with industry to strengthen testing, certification and market surveillance systems to enhance consumer confidence and support the growth of Ghanaian businesses.
The awards ceremony will be held in November under the theme: “From Stability to Growth: Strategic Industrialization as the Catalyst for Economic Transformation”, and will celebrate and recognize businesses that demonstrate outstanding performances and a commitment to excellence.
