The President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) National Committee (NC) of Ghana, Ing. Prof. Amevi Acakpovi, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, led a delegation from the NC to pay a courtesy call on the Director-General (DG) of GSA, Prof. George Agyei.
The visit sought to congratulate Prof. Agyei on his appointment and reinforce the IEC’s commitment to partnering the GSA in developing electrotechnical standards to improve the quality of infrastructure and industrial products across the country.
The IEC delegation included Ing. Ebenezer Afari Eklemet; Ing. Mrs. Irina Odame; Ms. Joyce Okoree (the Director of Certification at the GSA) and Ing. Selorm Amoaku.
Ing. Prof. Acakpovi, in his remarks, expressed the IEC’s readiness to support the new DG to uphold and develop quality electrotechnical standards for the country and the sub-region.
Prof. Agyei, on his part, thanked the delegation for their kind words and stated that collaborating with key institutions such as IEC is a significant part of his agenda adding that his doors were always opened to them.
Madam Okoree, the NC Secretary, in a brief remark, noted that since she works with the GSA, she will be the contact person to liaise between the GSA and the NC.
She pledged to update both institutions on happenings around electrotechnical standardization.
