On Thursday, January 29, 2026, the GSA participated in a panel discussion on agro-processing, food systems, and agro-industrial corridors at this year’s Africa Trade Summit held at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.
The trade summit, brought together Heads of State, Ministers, CEOs, investors, and multilateral institutions to translate Africa’s agricultural and industrial vision into tangible partnerships, bankable projects, and policy action.
The Deputy Director-General in charge of General Services (DDG-Gen), Hon. Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, who represented the Authority, urged stakeholders and industry players to adhere to standards in order to break trade barriers and enjoy the full benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
He noted that the AfCFTA represented Africa’s best opportunity to develop, calling on governments to improve economic infrastructure in their countries so as to make the agreement function properly.
He added that his institution was playing its role by contributing to regional and continental standardisation through ECOWAS, ARSO and AfCFTA structures as GSA sees standards as instruments that translate Africa’s industrial and trade ambitions into practical, enforceable outcomes.
